Cutt Off Time Changed

After discussion and consideration of feedback receieved through the event website about the cut off time we have decided to extend it by 30 minutes, moving it to 12:30pm. Presentation will now be at 1:15pm.
This gives riders 3 hours to complete the first 3 laps of the 12.5km course.

Single Speed Category Reminder

Just a reminder that the Single Speed Category category has been opened – If we do not receive 6 team entries by closing of online registration riders will placed into appropriate categories and notified by email.

Those that have expressed interest should register online today and remind their mates!

Currently there is only one team entry in the Single Speed Category.

Michael Milton – Press Release

Acclaimed cyclist and skier Michael Milton will ride in the Duo Classic Mountain Bike Race in support of fellow Canberran Bec Henderson who has eyes on the London Olympic Games.

Milton, Australia’s fastest skier and six-time Paralympian (ski racing and cycling), is an avid supporter of Henderson’s.

“Bec is a great athlete…….. She is the current Under 23 Australian Champion, has been Australian Mountain Bike Age Champion eight times and was 2011 Cycling Australia Elite Female Mountain Biker of the Year……,”said Milton.

BBQ and Coffee

The Lions Club of Gungahlin will be organizing a Barbeque with sausage sandwiches available from 10:30. Drinks will also be available. Please support the Gungahlin Lion’s Club who have been great supporters of CORC, Bec Henderson and Mountain Biking.

Don’t forget that Funky Brew will also have a Coffee Cart going from 7:30.

Please try to bring small notes and coins.

The 12:00 cut-off time for the Duo Classic is currently under review.

We are meeting up with the Race Director and Course Director today and will update the cut-off time here tomorrow.

Single Speed category now available!

Due to popular demand, a single speed category has been added to the race. It is a 50KM open category so you can be either a male, female or mixed pair. Register via the same method on the registernow website.

Attention Single Speeders!!!

We have had some recent interest for a single speed category for the Duo Classic. If we can get enough entrants we will create a Single Speed category in the 50km event. At this stage we require 6 teams to create a new category. If you are interested in racing as a single speed pair please let us know by using the contact form.

As soon as we have enough interest the category will be available on the registration page and an announcement will be made on the website.

Greg Long Photography to be at the Duo Classic

Local Canberran photographer Greg Long will be at the Duo Classic to take plenty of action shots of all the riders out on course.

6 Lucky Novice winners will receive a framed photo of themselves racing thanks to Greg Long Photography.

Photos from the event will be posted on both the event website and www.heymabel.com where they can be purchased from.

Body-Bike-Trail to sponsor The Duo Classic

The DUO CLASSIC is pleased to announce BODY-BIKE-TRAIL will be sponsoring the Masters Category.

Winners of the BODY-BIKE-TRAIL Masters Pairs, male, female and mixed, will receive a professional mountain bike fit for both riders, valued at $350!

McConnell & Henderson to pair up

Beijing Olympian Dan McConnell and Ben Henderson of the Anytime Fitness Mountain Bike Team are set to pair up for the 50km Duo Classic.

McConnell has just returned from 5 months of World Cup racing in Europe and has his sights set on the London Olympics in August 2012. Dan competed in his 10th World Championships in September and was the 2011 Australian and Oceania Champion.

Henderson has also had a two month trip in Europe spending the majority of his time in Czech Republic. After winning the first round of the 2010/11 National Series Ben’s domestic season went downhill with some unfortunate luck. Ben also has his sights set on the World Cup in 2012 and hopes to gain selection for the Olympic Games.
